In advance of the evening commute in Gaithersburg, several northbound lanes were blocked on Oct. 22 when a truck was involved n a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in fuel being spilled onto the roadway.

According to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, the crash left the truck with a ruptured fuel saddle tank.

HazMat crews were called to the scene of the crash and were able to help mitigate the damage done by the fuel spill by pumping the remaining diesel.

During the investigation, three lanes were blocked with only one lane of traffic getting by.
